ARTEK • Mozart and Woman of Genius
Mozart violin sonatas with Enrico Gatti and Gwendolyn Toth
Mozart’s most famous violin sonata in B-flat, K 454 was written for the Italian virtuosa, Regina Strinasacchi, who famously received the part only the night before the performance. Leopold Mozart said of her: “Her whole heart and soul is in the melody she delivers, and her power and beauty of tone are equally remarkable. I believe, as a rule, that a woman of genius plays with more expression than a man.”
Enrico Gatti, violin and Gwendolyn Toth, fortepiano play the Sonata in B-flat and other chamber works by Mozart.
